Personal:

I started running only 3 months ago....during my teenage years I was never fond of running long distances and so I used to hate the cross country season.

Because I am a very objective driven person I was first drawn to running in school when a running award was given after completing a number of laps round our track.

After that came the university years and then the first working years and running stopped altogether (although I manged to stick to team sports).

Recently I accepted my brother's challenge and began running....for my life.

I am 30 years old, work as a lawyer, am single although I am in a relationship, have no kids yet and love biking almost as much as I love running.

This was my very first race ever.

I was really glad that I managed to take part because 6 days before the race I had the onset of a strong upper abdominal pain that took me to the ER. After several tests I was told that it was a problem with my gallbladder and that I should stay off running.

My doctor however allowed me to run the race and only warned me to stop in case I was in pain.

Needless to say that the race began and off we went.....I began to feel the pain after about 1km and at the 2km mark I thought that I might not manage to finish...I decided to slow down my pace and keep going a little while longer.

It wasn't until I hit the 6k mark that the pain became intense enough to make me stop and walk....I must addmit that I did a lot of walking that I thought would make me feel frustrated but in fact in the end I was so happy that I had managed and kept going that I now look forward to the next race where I can run pain free.

Today, even though I am not allowed to run I decided I would go to the gym and take some time to relax....I never find time to do this and so it felt really good.

I swam for about 40 minutes and then went to the jacuzzi where I just relaxed and allowed the bubbles to gently massage my body and soul. I must say that a soak like this after a long run would surely feel fantastic.

Tommorow is the big day for I hope to find out exactly what is wrong with me and start to engage in making it all better.

Thankyou all for your support.
